2nd December, 2010 – Attic Life Ltd., the South West’s premier loft conversion company, is the South West Regional Winner of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) Master Builder of the Year Awards 2010. The certificate was presented yesterday at the South West Regional Awards ceremony held at the Cleve Spa Hotel in Wellington, Somerset.
Attic Life won the award in the Medium Renovation Projects category for their outstanding work in converting an attic last year in Oakhill, Somerset. All Regional Winners will automatically be entered into the FMB National Awards, which will be announced at a gala ceremony in London in March 2011, hosted by Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location presenter Phil Spencer. 2010 marks the 10th anniversary of the FMB Master Builder of the Year Awards and the overall winner will receive a Nissan Light Commercial Vehicle worth £20,000 while their client will win a luxury holiday worth £3,000.
FMB Director General, Richard Diment commented, “This is the title that every builder aspires to. Past winners, be they regional or national, have all seen significant benefits in entering and the awards categories are designed to match the type of work that most small and medium sized building firms undertake.”
Based in Holcombe, Somerset, Attic Life Ltd. was founded in 2003 by Neil Herd and Lee Froud. The company quickly grew to become the region’s leading experts in high-quality loft conversions, covering a wide area from Bristol and Bath to Bridgewater, Salisbury, Chippenham and beyond. Earlier this year, Attic Life received an award from Total Building Control for an attic conversion completed in Wells, Somerset and in 2008 the company won an award for excellence from Mendip District Council’s Building Control Department. Attic Life currently completes an average of 55 attic conversions each year.
Attic Life co-founder Neil Herd stated,” Naturally we are thrilled and honoured to win this award for the South West Region from the Federation of Master Builders. The large attic conversion in Oakhill was a challenge but we are very proud of the result, which we believe showcases the best of our work. Careful design, expert project management, an immaculate finish and complete customer satisfaction is central to the way we work, and it is extremely gratifying to have our achievements recognised at such a high level. “
